Is there a connection between EMFs and Lyme disease? Most people who suffer from Lyme Disease become sensitive to chemicals, certain foods, light, noise, mold, and/or EMFs. EMF sensitivity happens because the chronically ill body is already functioning in an inhibited and broken state. EMFs are electromagnetic fields that are invisible areas of energy.

These invisible waves are constantly being emitted by anything with an electrical charge. So, pretty much anything that makes our lives easier… Cell phones, computers, lamps, wifi routers, DVR boxes, smart watches, power lines, cell towers ect. According to Earth Calm, EMFs are harmful because they break your DNA strands, create stress hormones, and weaken your blood brain barrier. They also disrupt cell functioning, and clog detoxification pathways in your body, which is very negative on a Lyme patient’s body. Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt believes that EMFs are one of the foremost causes of disease today and one of the factors that can hinder recovery from Lyme and other chronic illnesses.

Risks From Exposure

Constant exposure to these frequencies can interact with your body, causing multitude of symptoms ranging from mild to severe. Common symptoms from EMF exposure can affect the entire body, and may include:

Cardiac: Heart palpitations, high or low blood pressure, shortness of breath, and heart arrhythmias.

Neurological: Tremors, headaches, dizziness, memory and concentration issues, sleep disturbances, insomnia, mood swings, increased irritability, depression, anxiety, fatigue, weakness, numbness, tingling, muscle and joint pain.

Eyes: Pressure in/behind the eye, deteriorating vision, pain and/or discomfort, and cataracts.

Skin: Itching, redness, rashes, burning and/or tingling sensations.

Ears: Tinnitus, ringing in ears, hearing loss, sound sensitivity.

Other possible issues: Immune system issues, digestive problems, nausea, restless legs, dehydration, nosebleeds, weight gain/ slow metabolism, liver problems, impared sense of smell, facial flushing, enlarged thyroid, and hair loss.

Protecting yourself and minimizing exposure is important for optimal health. Dr. Klinghardt states that “EMF shielding does more for his patients than antibiotics and antimicrobial drugs”. There are many ways to reduce exposure to EMF radiation, from simply changing your daily habits to purchasing special products.

EMF Sheilding

There are many products available used for electromagnetic shielding. Many of these are made with materials including metal screen, mesh, or foams. Sheilding products are designed to protect the user from harmful EMF radiation.

EMF meters measure electromagnetic fields. This tool can help you determine the amount of radiation emitted in your home, work place, or anywhere.

Smart meter shields/covers are designed to fit over your home’s smart reader and will block approximately 98% of emitted radiation from the unit, however, without disrupting the data being sent to the utility company.

A Wifi router cage/guard is, simply, a small metal box you set your router inside that will block radiation emitted from it.

EMF protection cell phone covers will help protect your head from exposure to the radiation emitted by your phone.

Laptop shields are mats you lay on your lap or desk and then put your laptop on top of.

EMF shielding paint contains special conductive materials and provides protection against EMF and RF frequencies as well as EMF radiation. This paint is rather expensive, so many people chose to do the room in which the meter is attached to the outer wall.

Faraday bags are backpacks or bags that completely block EMF radiation when closed. Once closed, these will keep any EMFs from getting in or out.

EMF window shielding films block radio frequencies and EMF radiation. To use, simply cut the film to the size of your window and apply!

EMF protection clothing typically have metallic mesh embedded into the fabric that will block EMF radiation. There are many options for clothing pieces, including pullover shirts and head coverings.

Dirty electric filters will clean up much of the “dirty electricity” emitted by modern electronics. These filters, simply, plug directly into a wall outlet.

EMF protection pendants are jewelry made from minerals or copper metal that form a paramagnetic field that alters EMFs and changes them into a more natural and less harmful form.

For the Bedroom

Protective bed canopies are made of special fabric that will block nearly all electromagnetic frequencies, consequently, offering a better nights rest.

EMF protection blankets are also made of special fabrics and protect against EMF radiation. Some also provide a grounding connection to the Earth.

Natural Options

Himalyan salt lamps soak up harmful toxins and EMFs through a chemical reaction in their salts. They are also thought to reduce toxins in the surrounding environment.

Plants such as cactus, peace lilies, spider plants, and aloe vera are great for absorbing radiation. Additaionally, they are known to help absord toxins in the air.

Minerals. According to The Chalkboard, black tourmaline, smokey quartz, and shungite help minimize the negative effects from EMFs. Place these crystals around your modems, TVs, and computers, or wear them on your body for added protection.

Changing Daily Habbits

Aside from spending a lot of money on protective products and gear, there are simple things you can do to reduce EMF exposure just by changing your daily habits. For example, start with changing your sleeping environment. Sleep is extremely important, especially with chronic illness. Our body’s do most of it’s healing during rest. The easiest ways to reduce your EMF exposure while you sleep is to unplug your wifi and all appliances. Turn off your cell phone, unplug cordless phones and don’t sleep with your phone in the same room.

Other Healthy Guidelines To Live By Are;
  • Limit screen time
  • Use USB keyboards instead of laptop keyboards
  • Replace cordless phones with corded ones
  • Refrain from buying wireless gadgets
  • Move Wifi router at least 20 feet away from where you work or relax
  • Disable bluetooth and wireless on your phone while not in use
  • Keep your laptop on a desk, not on your lap
  • Reduce the amount of “smart” devices such as watches, step counters, bluetooth headphones, smart watches etc.
  • Air dry your hair instead of using a dryer
  • Get rid of your microwave
  • Remove lighting dimmers
  • Don’t carry your phone in your pocket

Conclusion

With today’s modern lifestyle it’s impossible to avoid EMF exposure completely. However, you can do things to help reduce exposure and minimize the negative effects. Changes in our daily habits and lifestyles may help our quality of life. Please remember that we are not health professionals and the contents of this article are for informational purposes only.
